NITDA to establish Rural Information Centers nationwide
The Director- General, National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Mr. Peter Jack says the Agency is committed to using Information Technology to drive the nation’s economy for sustainable development.
He stated this in Abuja at a forum organised by the Agency to work out ways of sustaining the Rural Information Technology Centres established nationwide.
Mr. Jack said when fully achieved, such Information Technology IT Centres would boost entrepreneurship and encourage the stakeholders to create business modules at the rural communities.
The Chief Executive Officers of an Information Technology Firm partnering with NITDA in the initiative, Mr. OkeyIkpe, said the forum was to enable the stakeholders to join in building the capacity of the youths in the rural areas through Information and Communication Technology.
The Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, gave an assurance that the Commission would contribute to the success of the project.
He said the Commission would not relent in its efforts towards ensuring adequate power supply for sustainable national development.
